NBR's Capital Campaign

Securing NBR's future with a permanent home

The construction of George F. Russell Jr. Hall is a significant step for the future of The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR). With a permanent home, NBR's established position as the nation’s leading research institution conducting advanced, independent research on issues affecting U.S. relations with Asia will be ensured for years to come.

Named after longtime chairman George Russell, NBR's new headquarters will be located at the heart of Seattle's University of Washington district.

With Russell Hall as a strategic hub for NBR's valued endeavors, global leaders in academe, business, and government will continue to have a trusted source for effectively delivered, nonpartisan research on complex issues relevant to Asia-Pacific affairs.

NBR will occupy one floor of Russell Hall and lease out two floors of office space, 30 residential apartments, 6,000 feet of retail space, and three levels of parking. This innovative business model will ensure a sustainable future for NBR, allowing the dedication of more resources toward the organization's vital mission of strengthening and informing policy.

Established in 1989 with a major grant from the Henry M. Jackson Foundation, NBR has over the past twenty years demonstrated a steadfast commitment to addressing issues as critical to humanity’s future as any—a goal shared by our supporters.

We invite you to support leading independent research on America's most pressing issues in the Asia-Pacific through your contributions to the George F. Russell Jr. Hall Capital Campaign.

Your support will play an essential role in enabling NBR to deliver cutting-edge research, launch new initiatives, and train the next generation of Asian affairs specialists committed to and capable of bridging the gap between scholarly research and policy.
